Summary
The galls of the Nurude (Sumac tree) parasitized by sap-sucking aphids are called Fushi. Dried after, it will be called Gobaishi and used for dyes and pigments. It has used so a long time.
In the Edo era, Ohaguro (お歯黒), or a black toothpaste used by married women, is made from Gobaishi. It contains so much tannin, so tannic acid is made from Gobaishi today.

Dyeing method
Boil in boiling water for 15 minutes, then strain and use. It can be extracted in alkaline water. Relatively resistant to sunlight.
