Do you know Surikomi? This is a way of Katazome, which uses Surikomi brushes made of deer hair and expresses graditaion of colors. The specialty of Surikomi is that it can express the landscapes or vividness of people through only the depth of colors by adjusting the gradation. This is a Ukiyo-e made by our teacher Mr Yamazaki.

Teacher - Morito Yamazaki

Mr. Yamazaki is a professional botanical dyer and owner of a dyeing studio called "Kusakiya" located in Gunma prefecture. His grandfather was famous as a dyer who revived botanical dyeing in Japan, and his Katazome works are very popular in Japan. If you are interested, please notify us through this Google Form.
